St. George Reunion

We just got back from a fun quick trip to meet up with college friends. We drove to Nevada Thursday night where we dropped off the four oldest kids with their Aunt, Uncle & Cousins--THANK YOU Jesse & Cami, they had a great time!--and continued on to St. George.
We had found a house to rent together and spent Friday hiking in Zions, shopping the outlets (girls), golfing (boys), eating, and playing games.
Zions was beautiful. The red rock is amazing. On the way in we stopped at a little diner and we all had scones for appetizers which I write just because I think it is funny that we ordered fried dough twice in one day--and it was on the menu. More about that later. Love that Utah home cooking!
It was a nice day and we hiked the Emerald Pool loops. At the Upper pool where the waterfall mists down it covered the rocks with snow and ice. Spencer and Dan went to investigate and when they got close the wind shifted and they got soaked!
Friday night we went to a great restaurant called Haven that Emily heard about from someone's blog so I thought it only right that I post about it and return the favor in case anyone else visits St. George. It was incredible. We all agreed that the sugared doughnuts that they serve hot with pastry cream and berry compote on the side was the best dessert we'd ever had. Hot and soft in the middle with crunchy sweet sugar and dipped in smooth silky pastry cream and sweet fruity berry compote, it was really amazing. Dinner was great too :)
It's funny that between the eight of us we have kids with all our names, (Emily, Spencer, Daniel, Sarah, Eric, Lukas) except Valora's and mine so when we're talking we have to listen to see if we're talking about each other or our kids! It's been two years since we last got together but it always seems like we pick up where we left off. It was a trick to squeeze it in and a lot of traveling for Melanie in a short time--two of them brought their baby girls too--but we're always glad we made the effort.

Looks like such a fun get together! It is good to know that you still get together with you college friends. We sure made some great ones at BYU and wonder if we will ever get together with them. You have motivated me to make it happen. You look so great Kim--I can't believe you have had 5 kids, you look fantastic.
