Melanie's Blessing

We blessed Melanie this month and it was a wonderful day!

When my Mom was going through boxes she found my blessing dress she had sewn for me. I was worried it wasn't going to fit Mel because I was not an 8-almost-9 pound baby, but it did! It is a beautiful dress. Someday I'd like to sew as well as my Mom.

We had a big, good-looking family representation! We missed Mom & Dad, Cami & Ezra, and Uncle Spencer! I can't believe we got everyone looking at the same time, even semi-comatose Eric. Mom was getting quite the upper body workout!

After pictures she set Eric down and he just laid down on the sidewalk. Claire was concerned.
She had to check his eyes to make sure he was OK. :)

Eric Ottesen slipped away, but here is a picture of everyone else who blessed Melanie, a Grandpa, Dad, and six uncles!

The Plumb bunch. What a good-looking group!
It was fun to see them all together.

Melanie and Grandpa at the end of a long nice day! She was really talking and smiling with Grandpa. It's fun to see her become more and more responsive and smiley.

I can't believe I have five children. Part of me thinks that isn't many at all, and other times I think it is pretty inconceivable that these five little people are "mine." I had two different people count all my children, pointing finger and all yesterday! One of them said that she came from a family of six siblings and her husband, five, and I told her that was the same for us, but reversed and she replied, "But TODAY?" I just smiled, "Yeah, it's not as common anymore, is it?"
She laughed disbelievingly and remarked that they had just had one and he was SO expensive.
But they were walking two world-class racing dogs. I guess it's all relative! ;)
I just can't believe Heavenly Father allows us to have this experience and in essence, experiment on each other! What an opportunity. Before I had kids I thought I was patient. I thought I had a lot of things figured out, but this is one humbling experience. I'm so grateful for our Savior who makes up for all my failings! I'm grateful for wonderful parents and a wonderful, fun, involved husband and father of my kiddos who is worthy to bless them. I love the gospel and I love my family!

Those pictures are sure fun. It is so great you were able to have so many family members there for the special day. I think the picture of your family is cute, Eric is kissing the baby :) Yeah I sure missed out on the sewing as well, maybe someday I will learn.

So sweet:) I'm amazed you have 5 kids, especially when I realize you're only a year or two older than me...but, since I started out with twins, perhaps I'll catch up quickly! :)

Thanks so much for sharing your special day with all of us!!! You have a beautiful family and they will bring you so much joy especially in the long run. One big happy family forever! Melanie looks the most like you Kim. She reminds me of the good old days when you and Michelle were little tots running around together.

What a beautiful, beautiful family. How nice to have so many extended family members able to attend the blessing as well. I know what you mean. Sometimes I feel so worn and out from my four kids, and then sometimes I look at them and think, "Where did you come from? Aren't I a young, cute BYU student?" :)
