If anyone figures out a successful way to cut onions tear-free, let us know! Rachel was this week's dinner helper and ran to get her swim mask to help chop onions. Bethany, I thought of your daughter when I saw Rachel! Great minds must think alike.
We've been having kitchen rotations weekly instead of daily and it works so much better!
Someone empties the dishwasher, sets the table, helps make dinner or helps load the dishwasher. Instead of having to remind everyone that it is their day, they just know that this week they do it every day. They also get pretty proficient quite quickly!

I've heard that if you burn a candle it takes the sting away...but I haven't tried it out, so I can't really vouch for it!
I used to use my lab goggles. I'm not sure if I already mentioned this, but I read that it helps if you put an onion in the freezer for 5-10min before you cut it. Works pretty well for me.
I love how creative your kids are.
I've heard the freezer method, too, but I still grab for the goggles -- gotta love them!
