Seventh Annual Beach Campout

We go beach camping at the beginning of every September with our friends. We started when Rachel wasn't even two and look forward to it every year. Our family and our tent have definitely both gotten bigger over the years!
Spencer brought the kayak and the dads and kids spent all day taking turns paddling out to the open sea. If you'll look closely at this picture you can see who took the brunt of the breaking waves (hint--he's in a yellow life-jacket!) Eric loved it. Spencer is Mr. Fun at the beach. The hordes of kids follow him around begging to be next on the kayak, surfboard, boogie board--you name it!
Rachel, a little chilly after her turn paddling through the surf.
Melanie hung out all day in her portable swing under the striped umbrella.

Eric would stop periodically for snacks and snuggles.

Daniel was so excited to stand up surfing with Dad!

What a face! Did Daniel have fun or what?!
Our campsites were bordered by small trees the kids had a great time playing in.
We take turns cooking meals (breakfast & dinner) with two other families and this year was our turn for Friday night dinner. Taco Soup, corn muffins, grapes & lemonade. Yum! Our crew is getting big enough that this year we brought the turkey fryer so we could whip up a big batch and heat it up fast.
S'more Time.
Here is a video of Eric showing his friend his baby. And getting tickled by Daddy. He is such a crack up!
